Meeting info & Additional Activities:

Meeting Dates: 3rd Thursday of each month

Time: 7 pm

Place: Handi Quilter  501 N 400 W, North Salt Lake

Notion share: Each month someone from the group will be sharing their favorite notion and a quick how they use it. This has been fun to adventure into new notions and techniques! During the meeting we’ll have a drawing and the notion will be given away to a member.

Challenge 2019: We’ll be working on an improv quilt from start to finish together. During the year there will be new techniques, sew days and more that directly relate to the challenge.

Quilt Along 2019: We’ll be starting in February / March of 2019 (because we are finishing up the 2018 Vintage to Modern Quilts).  The quilt will be laid out so every month we will be sewing part of the whole quilt.  By the end of the year, we’ll have the quilt top complete!

Retreat: This happens in the fall (may change this year) and will be a weekend adventure. Still working out the details.

Charity Quilt: This year the charity quilt is being directed by Johnny- a member of the group. He will be sharing the charity and the blocks that we are donating and sewing in January.  We also have a charity night sewing later in the year- this is always a fun night!

Make & Takes: We will be doing two this year! We will be making our own spray starch as well as a thimble pincushion charm.  All the supplies will be provided for the evening.

Swaps: We have two per year.  One in the spring- Mini Quilt Swap and in the winter: Notion Swap. They are always fun and if you aren’t interested in swapping you can still come for show and tell and the meeting!

Dye Day: This happens yearly in the summer- typically July.  We move the meeting to a Saturday and have a lunch and dye activity. Some fabric is provided to members, plus supplies. Additional fabric is available to purchase or you can bring your own. This has been so fun to do and is a great early afternoon activity.

Trunk Show + Guest:  Every year we invite a guest to do a trunk show for the group.  We have had some incredibly talented designers and quilters share their journey in quilting and their quilts.

Hands On Activities:  During this year we will have a few hands on activities- where you will need to bring your supplies (list provided before the meeting) so you can participate. We’ll be learning hand quilting and no show binding this year.
