Quilty Experience:
Since 2011
Where are you From?
San Francisco Bay Area
How did you get started quilting?
I needed something to keep me busy during a rough time and found a stack of coordinating fabrics in my mom’s garage and made her a tree skirt
How did you get started doing the Hawaiian applique?
I liked the symmetry of Hawaiian applique, but wanted to “make it modern” so I cut a sort of four part paper snowflake with triangles and straight lines and just went for it. I really liked the way it looked so I kept doing different variations
Favorite block/trend (obsession)
flying geese
Favorite color
blue, esp navy
What are your favorite quilts/projects you’ve done?
I don’t think I could pick!
How many quilts have you started? Finished?
30
What do you love most about quilting?
It’s a lot like baking; it’s precise and technical but I get to put my own spin on it and make something for other people to enjoy. It’s a fun creative outlet
What’s on your design wall?
Nothing right now, it’s packed away until I get the sewing room painted
What do you stitch with?
Either my Kenmore or my new fancy straight stitch machine
When did you join the Salt Lake Modern Quilt Guild?
2013
What do you do when you’re not quilting?
I enjoy reading, baking, walking with my dog, and also playing with makeup or nails
