2024 – Guild Challenge

This year the Guild has chosen Modern Traditionalism as our year long challenge. It will be presented at the March meeting and we look forward to seeing your experimentations and creations at our November meeting.

Modern Traditionalism combines traditional techniques with contemporary design. This style celebrates the craftsmanship and history of quilting and reflects the evolving tastes and creative vision of today’s quilters.

Modern traditionist quilters – all of us! – draw inspiration from traditional quilt patterns, such as log cabins or flying geese, but reinterpret them using bold colors, unconventional fabrics, and innovative construction methods. The Modern Quilt Guild has a great class on Modern Traditionalism and a tutorial for the Mini Satsuma mini quilt to practice modern traditionalist techniques and design.

If you need some inspiration for our challenge, here are links to Designed to Quilt featuring 10 quilt patterns and Quilting Daily. Our Guild members’ work is also inspiring, look back at the show and tell photos on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Happy Quilting!
