MQG QuiltCon 2025 Community Outreach Quilt

Each year the Modern Quilt Guild sets various challenges for quilts that will be displayed at the upcoming QuiltCon. There is no ‘prize’ for the Community Outreach Quilt, just the immense joy of having a quilt we have contributed to displayed for all to see.

Just as in the past few years, guilds will have the opportunity to sell their quilts at QuiltCon, and the proceeds will benefit local non-profits. $12,000 was raised with this challenge at QuiltCon 2024.

Funds raised from this year’s Community Outreach Challenge will benefit non profit agencies in the greater Phoenix area. Specific organizations are yet to be announced.

The Community Outreach Challenge for 2025 has a calming palette and the geometric theme of Lines and Bars. The MQG suggests a color palette, of which we can use 4-8. The quilt will be between 60″x80″ and 65″x85″. This is not a solo project and we hope that as many of the SLMQG will participate, regardless of whether or not you will be attending QuiltCon 2025 in Phoenix.

This year, we are excited to have our member, Ashelyn Downs design and lead this project. The theme is Lines and Bars and she has created a wonderful mix of abstract flowers, inspired by the Wasatch Mountains and the wild flowers that grow there. Please go to her website for full details and patterns.

Thank you so much for participating in our guild’s project!
